Date: Mon, 27 Mar 1995 05:56:08 -0500 Message-Id: <199503271056.FAA12749@chaos.taylored.com> From: la bique To: joel@chaos.taylored.com Reply-To: la bique Subject: FTF in las vegas Errors-To: nobody@chaos.taylored.com Precedence: list Sender: joel-request@chaos.taylored.com (Billy Joel Mailing List) X-List: Billy Joel X-Author: la bique well.. where to start? i went to friday's show and this was my very first billy and/or elton concert. i had oral surgery on wednesday (gotta love them wisdom teeth) so i was in a bit o' pain, but i had a blast! it rocked! it started kinda on time (maybe 5-10 minutes late) and lasted about 4 hours. basically was the same rundown as everyone else had posted on past concerts-- they both come out, then billy leaves and elton plays, then elton leaves and billy plays, then the both play together. my seats were okay.. i got the $75 tickets (which was the middle price) and we were to the far left of the stage and very high up.. about eye level with the speakers. the people sitting in the same section as me sucked. the just sat there.. and there i was dancing in my chair and singing along and what not.. i wanted to stand up but i already felt kinda silly.. then at the end when they played "piano man" i knew from reading here that they stop the music and the audience sings the chorus.. well my section was so dense that when billy and elton stopped playing i was the lone singer in my area.. everyone caught on by the second line but i felt pretty goofy.. tee hee hee (: some of the highlights... -the woman sitting next to me, slightly inebriated, leaned over and said, "do you think billy and elton have something going? i mean, he just divorced christie and you know about elton..." -elton's attire. he started off in this yellow suit, i swear it was vinyl or plastic or something, with these red shoes. later when he came out during billy's set and they sang "my life" he changed to a green suit and still wore the red shoes (think- christmas tree). billy said, "nice suit!" and after elton walked back offstage sang the first line of "it's not easy being green." -the elvis impersonations. billy sang a little of "jailhouse rock" and "viva las vegas" and did a couple "thank you very much"-es in an elvis voice. there was a discussion a while back about how he plays local songs, so i had hoped he'd play "stop in nevada" but he didn't.. oh well (i won't complain!). if anyone else went and has a set list, could you please post or email to me (nancyp@pogonip.scs.unr.edu)? thanks. i could pretty much name what was played and what wasn't but i have no clue about the order.. someone asked about souvenirs. programs were $15, they had the mugs (billy or elton.. why not one with both of them?) for $15, and tee shirts.. a couple different styles, some just billy, some just elton, some with both, for $25 or $30 (i think.. i'm a poor starving college student so i got the $25 one). hats.. don't remember how much they were. um.. gosh, what else? i must confess, i could never understand those people who would write, "i've seen him in concert eighteen times and i can't wait to go again!" i used to think, "what the h*ll? eighteen times isn't enough?" but now i understand.. i just saw him two days ago and i can't wait to go again. i'm completely jealous of you multiple-concert people. sorry this is soo long.. i shall end it now, seeing as spring break's over and i have school tomorrow (yuk). nancy (aka la bique, french for nannygoat) nancyp@pogonip.scs.unr.edu
