Bruce Springsteen 1997 Japan Tour

Bruce Springsteen Japan tour dates were announced in the newspaper on Nov. 25, 1996.
Here are some picts of a big sign that was posted on Aoyama Street in Omotesando, Tokyo (this is a page from my photo diary). These photos were taken on the day tickets went on sale: Nov. 30, 1996. It is near the ticket agency that organized this event. This sign is not there anymore, it changes from time to time with a picture of an artist who is scheduled to play in Japan.

VENUE: Tokyo International Forum Hall A, Tokyo, Japan.
DATES: (Doors open: 17:30 Concert start time: 19:00)

The Tokyo International Forum had very very good acoustics. It is a brand new place that just opened in January. Although the hall Bruce played (Hall A) houses 5,000 people I think everyone got to hear the concerts with the best possible sound.
He changed the setlist bit by bit each day, and though we did not get any BIG surprises, there was something that made each night special.
Bruce also did not have to make his disclaimer speech after TGOTJ. The concert hall had signs and were broadcasting through the PA, that all cellular phones and pagers be turned off during the concert and that the audience remain seated during the show. Even on the ticket, it is printed that no entering or leaving the hall during a song, only in between songs.
Bruce tried to give short Japanese speeches (mostly one sentence) reading off notes he had pasted on the floor of the stage. He gave Japanese comments for: Adam, Red Headed, Dry Lightning, Across the Border. For other songs like, Brothers, Spare Parts, Youngstown, and the border songs he spoke extensively in English, a bit tough for the average Japanese. On the last night he dedicated Galveston Bay (in Japanese) to the man who translated his lyrics included in the Japanese pressing of TGOTJ and lyric sheet handed out before the concert.
